Junior Integration Engineer
Junior RAN Test Engineer
Role Overview
As a Junior RAN Test Engineer, you’ll join Ericsson’s RAN Test team and help ensure our 4G/5G Radio Access Network (RAN) solutions perform as expected before launching in live customer networks. This is an ideal early-career role for recent graduates, offering structured support, mentoring, and clear career progression.
You’ll begin by learning foundational skills and contributing to real project work alongside experienced Integration Engineers, Network Engineers, and Test Managers. This role suits those who enjoy problem-solving, hands-on troubleshooting, and exploring mobile networks, software/systems testing, and automation/AI.
Over time, you could progress into roles such as Integration Engineer, Network Engineer, or Test Specialist at Ericsson.
What You Will Do
Your first months will focus on onboarding, gradual learning, and gaining confidence in your skills. As your understanding builds, you’ll take on more responsibility.
You’ll:
- Follow a structured onboarding plan covering 4G/5G RAN concepts, Ericsson tools, and working methods, using internal learning platforms and local workshops.
- Shadow experienced colleagues during test planning, test execution, and troubleshooting before independently handling small, well-defined tasks with guided support.
- Assist in preparing and running test cases for new software releases, features, or configuration changes under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Collect, organise, and log traces, logs, and basic KPIs from test runs to aid analysis and issue investigation.
- Utilise existing automation frameworks and scripts for test execution, contributing small improvements such as log parsing or producing simple reports over time.
- Support everyday test environment and tool maintenance tasks, such as patching software updates or making basic configurations once trained.
- Document test cases, results, and defects in standard tools such as Azure DevOps/Jira with clear, actionable notes.
- Participate in regular team routines (stand-ups, planning sessions, retrospectives), collaborate with cross-functional colleagues, and suggest improvement ideas.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
