Role Overview
As a Junior RAN Test Engineer, you will join Ericsson’s RAN Test team and help ensure our 4G/5G Radio Access Network (RAN) solutions function as expected before deploying them into live customer networks. This early-career role is designed for recent graduates, offering structured growth, mentorship, and gradual responsibility to build expertise in:

You’ll begin by learning foundational concepts while contributing to real projects alongside experienced Integration Engineers, Network Engineers, and Test Managers. Over time, you can advance to roles such as Integration Engineer, Network Engineer, or Test Specialist within Ericsson.
What You Will Do
In your initial months, the focus shifts from learning to hands-on contribution, with increasing responsibility as your confidence grows. Key tasks include:
-
Structured Onboarding Follow a formal onboarding plan covering 4G/5G RAN concepts, Ericsson tools, and workflows, using internal learning platforms and workshops.
-
Assisted Contributions
- Shadow experienced colleagues during test planning, execution, and troubleshooting.
- Gradually take ownership of small, clearly defined tasks with ongoing guidance.
-
Test Preparation & Execution
- Assist in preparing and running test cases for new software loads, features, and configuration changes in the RAN test environment, under senior engineer supervision.
-
Data Collection & Analysis
- Gather, organise, and document logs, traces, and basic KPIs from tests to help the team interpret results and resolve issues.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
