Junior RAN Test Engineer

Role Overview

As a Junior RAN Test Engineer, you will join Ericsson’s RAN Test team and help ensure our 4G/5G Radio Access Network (RAN) solutions perform as expected before deployment in live customer networks. This is an early-career role designed for recent graduates, featuring structured support, mentoring, and gradual development in mobile network testing, test methods, and automation.

You’ll begin by learning core concepts before collaborating on real projects alongside Integration Engineers, Network Engineers, and Test Managers. This role suits those who enjoy problem-solving, exploring mobile network functionality, and engaging with software/systems testing and automation/AI. Over time, you can progress toward roles such as Integration Engineer, Network Engineer, or Test Specialist within Ericsson.

What You Will Do

In the first few months, the focus is on learning and building confidence in our processes. As you progress, you’ll take on increasing responsibility.

You will:

  • Follow a structured onboarding plan covering 4G/5G RAN concepts, Ericsson tools, and working methods through:
    • Internal learning platforms
    • Local workshops
  • Shadow experienced colleagues during test planning, test execution, and troubleshooting, eventually owning small, supported tasks.
  • Help prepare and execute test cases for new software loads, features, and configuration changes in the RAN test environment under senior guidance.
  • Gather, organise, and log traces, logs, and basic KPIs from test runs to aid team analysis and issue resolution.
  • Use existing automation frameworks and scripts to run tests; over time, contribute minor improvements (e.g., log parsing or generating reports).
  • Assist with daily test environment and tool maintenance, such as:
    • Applying software updates
    • Making simple configuration changes (after appropriate training)
  • Document test cases, results, and defects in standard tools (Azure DevOps/Jira, etc.) while maintaining clear records for cross-team reference.
  • Participate in regular team routines, including:
    • Stand-ups
    • Planning sessions
    • Retrospectives
  • Work closely with colleagues across functions and locations, while suggesting improvements where possible.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
