Job Title: Junior RAN Test Engineer
Role Overview
As a Junior RAN Test Engineer, you will join Ericsson’s RAN Test team and help ensure our 4G/5G Radio Access Network (RAN) solutions work as expected before deployment in live customer networks. This is an early-career opportunity designed for recent graduates, offering structured support, mentoring, and a steady progression in mobile networks, test methods, and automation.
You will begin by mastering the fundamentals, contributing to real project work alongside experienced Integration Engineers, Network Engineers, and Test Managers. Ideal candidates enjoy breaking down complex problems, hands-on problem-solving, and exploring mobile networks, software/systems testing, and automation/AI. Career growth may lead to roles such as Integration Engineer, Network Engineer, or Test Specialist.
What You Will Do
Learning & Onboarding
In your first months, your role will focus on learning and gaining confidence with tools and processes. Over time, as your expertise grows, you’ll take on increasing responsibilities.
- Follow a structured onboarding plan, covering:
- Fundamentals of 4G/5G RAN concepts
- Ericsson tools and internal best practices
- Hands-on training via internal learning platforms and local workshops
- Shadow experienced colleagues during test planning, execution, and troubleshooting
- Begin owning small, well-defined tasks with ongoing support
Core Responsibilities
- Help prepare and execute test cases for:
- New software loads
- Emerging features
- Configuration changes
- All conducted in the RAN test environment
- Assist senior engineers with establishing test methodologies and frameworks
- Collect and organise:
- Logs, traces, and KPIs from test runs
- Accurate documentation for results analysis and issue investigation
- Engage with automation frameworks and scripts, including:
- Running tests via existing tools
- Contributing small improvements (e.g., parsing logs, generating reports)
- Perform everyday test environment and tool tasks, such as:
- Applying software updates
- Making configuration changes (after initial training)
- Record and track:
- Test cases, results, and defects using Ericsson tools (e.g., Azure DevOps/Jira)
- Clear, actionable notes for team transparency
- Participate in team routines, including:
- Daily stand-ups
- Planning sessions
- Retrospectives
- Collaborative improvements with engineering teams across regions

What You Will Bring

Educational Background
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in fields such as:
- Telecommunications
- Electrical/Electronic Engineering
- Computer Science
- Software Engineering
- Network & Security (or similar related disciplines)
Technical Skills & Mindset
- A solid foundation in mobile networks and testing evidenced by:
- Basic networking concepts (e.g., IP routing, latency, throughput)
- Exposure to either:
- Linux/UNIX (proficiency in terminal use, basic commands)
- Programming or scripting experience via:
- A minimum of one language (e.g., Python, Java, C/C++, Bash)
- Examples from coursework or personal projects
- Hands-on testing experience from:
- Academic projects
- Lab work
- Internships
