Junior Java Engineer – Investment Management
- £90,000 + 20% Bonus
- 3 days per week in the office (Java + investment management)
Quant Capital is urgently looking for a Junior Software Engineer with Core Java skills to join our high-profile client.
Our client is a well-known Systematic Trading Hedge Fund, specialising in open-source technology, scalability, and robust performance—mirroring their own track record.
Currently managing £2 billion in liquid capital, they prioritise tech as much as trading success. Think of the culture as Google or a startup, where expertise and learning feed both ways.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop a new trading architecture for model execution.
- Build, deploy, and maintain micro-services in the cloud (AWS).
- Support other business units:
- Diagnose technical issues.
- Query data.
- Build analytical tools.
- Work in a highly collaborative, pair-programming environment.
- Improve architecture and trading processes with the full engineering team.
- Prototype new technologies and concepts.
- Foster automation in processes and testing.
- Review designs, code, and knowledge collaboratively to ensure continuity.
You’ll gain deep exposure to:
- Trading infrastructure.
- Data flows from Bloomberg.
- How a trading floor operates.

Requirements

Education:
- First-Class Degree (Upper Second or more) in a relevant field.

Experience & Knowledge:
- Financial Services background—understand the basics of option pricing (even if unable to price them).
- Strong A-Level performance, with a focus on Core Java.
- Ideal (but not mandatory):
- Knowledge of cloud architecture.
- Experience with model deployment in the cloud.
- Proficiency in AWS/GCP, EC2, Linux.
- Strong grasp of computational fundamentals.
