Junior Laboratory Analyst
Work from Laboratory Scientist – Laboratory Operating Support (lfm-480)

Job Details
- Hours: 21 hours per week (rotational shift pattern)
- Wednesday - Friday, 06:00 – 14:00
- Thursday - Saturday, 10:00 – 18:00
- Friday - Sunday, 10:00 – 18:00
- Location: Not specified ( Health & Safety compliant)

About the Role
Support the water microbiology department with routine laboratory tasks, ensuring safety, accuracy, and compliance with company and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities

Sample Preparation:
- Prepare microbiological media (e.g., agars).
- Conduct sample preparation in line with company protocols.

Microbiological Analysis:
- Perform analysis of water samples using standardised protocols.
- Operate and maintain analytical equipment safely.

Administrative Tasks:
- Enter accurate data into the laboratory database.
- Maintain UKAS quality system records.

Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to Health and Safety procedures.
- Ensure laboratory cleanliness and prevent cross-contamination.
- Report any anomalous results or incidents to the Laboratory Supervisor.

Communication & Teamwork:
- Work effectively with colleagues to support operational efficiency.

Requirements

Qualifications:
- A-level in a science-related subject (preferably Biology).
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Science, and English.

Additional Skills:
- Attention to detail and adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Ability to work in a shift pattern and independently.
- Strong diligence and organisational skills.
