# Junior Lawyer – Europe, Africa & Middle East Legal Team

We’re on the lookout for a Junior Lawyer to join our Europe, Africa and Middle East Legal team, supporting high-end commercial and technology agreements. This role provides a perfect springboard to grow expertise in commercial law within an international, technology-focused organisation. You’ll play a pivotal role, collaborating closely with Geoscience and High Performance Computing (HPC) teams to support business operations while ensuring legal compliance and risk management.
What You’ll Do
You’ll contribute across the following key areas:

Commercial Contracting
- Master the fundamentals of contract drafting, review, and amendment
- Surround ourselves with licensing agreements and intellectual property law principles

Legal Risk & Compliance
- Identify, mitigate and escalate legal risks proactively
- Ensure all contracts align with Viridien’s legal policies and standards
- Maintain contract templates and records securely and professionally

Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Engage with Procurement, HR, Facilities, and Marketing teams
- Partner with Legal, Tax, Compliance, and Finance teams on regulatory and operational matters

Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with commercial, sales and leadership teams to align business strategies with legal safeguards
- Interface confidently with diverse stakeholders, clarifying legal requirements for practical application

Who We’d Love To Hear From
You’re a natural fit if you tick these boxes:

Academic Background
- Degree in Law (specialising in Business Law, Corporate Law, Commercial Law, or equivalent)

Technical & Legal Competencies
- Experience in contract negotiation and contract management
- Acquisition of legal drafting, contract review and lifecycle management skills
- Self-starting, ethical and discreet, with an analytical mindset
- Proven track record of staying organised, detail-oriented, and delivering under pressure

Soft Skills
- Thrives as a collaborator in multicultural teams
- Exceptional written and verbal communication in English
- Adaptable, proactive and solution-driven—both independently and as part of a high-energy team
- Curiosity about scientific, technical and innovation-driven fields

A Bonus Would Be
- Proficiency in French (optional but valued)
Key Responsibilities
Your day-to-day involves:
Contract Management
- Review, draft, and revise commercial and licensing agreements
- Support the negotiation process and ensure closing documentation is up-to-standard
- Maintain contracts, templates, and records instructional records
Business Support
- Serve as a commercial legal operational partner for Geoscience and HPC teams
- Liaise with HR, Procurement, Marketing, and other departments across the business
- Provide guidance on commercial deals, ensuring operational readiness
Compliance & Risk Management
- Help ensure compliance with local content and regulatory requirements
- Support wider teams (e.g., Tax, Insurance, Finance) in complex deal risks
- Act as first-line legal on-call, escalating to senior counsel when needed
