Junior Planner
Junior Planner – Civil Engineering & Infrastructure
About the Role
FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor for a Junior Planner to join their growing team.
You will be responsible for supporting the planning function across a wide range of civils and infrastructure projects. Working closely with the senior planning team, you will assist in developing, managing, and maintaining project programmes from early contractor involvement (ECI) through to completion, ensuring compliance with contract requirements and contributing to successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and management of project programmes using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project
- Support programme creation by collaborating with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients
- Monitor, update, and track live project programmes, reporting progress to key stakeholders
- Assist with Extension of Time (EoT) / Clause 62 assessments where required
- Prepare and submit programmes to clients on behalf of project managers
- Ensure programmes allow adequate time for safe mobilisation and site activities
- Contribute to tender planning, delivery strategies and programme analysis
- Support risk and opportunity management within project programmes
- Maintain planning standards in line with company and contract requirements
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to support project delivery and tender submissions
- Engage in continuous improvement by identifying lessons learned and sharing best practices

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Desirable qualification in Civil Engineering (HND or similar)
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience within the construction or civil engineering industry
- Some experience or awareness of a planning role within construction
- Desirable experience in highways, structures, water infrastructure or similar sectors
- Familiarity with planning software such as Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to interpret drawings and technical specifications
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements and safe working practices
- Full UK driving licence
