Junior Press Officer
Junior Press Officer – Hybrid (London Kingsway Office / Remote)
Location: Hybrid (2 office days per week in London Kingsway office or flexible hybrid model) Reports to: PR Manager Salary: £28,000 + excellent benefits package Closing Date: 10th July 2026
About the Role
We’re seeking a self-starter with press office experience to join our PR team as a Junior Press Officer. Reporting to the PR Manager, this role requires exceptional written/verbal communication skills and a sharp news sense to support proactive and reactive media engagement for the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
As a Junior Press Officer, your responsibilities will include:
- Developing expert media commentary on leadership, management, and education policies.
- Building media relationships and securing news coverage for CMI’s research, policy, and accreditation programmes.
- Crafting timely and engaging social media content, aligning with broader Marketing and Policy drives.
- Supporting reactive crisis communications and monitoring fast-moving events.

Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities:
- Monitor press agendas and identify proactive/reactive media opportunities to elevate CMI’s expertise.
- Raise awareness for key policies, in-house research, and the value of CMI accreditation.
- Manage journalist inquiries via phone/email with prompt, accurate responses.
- Draft and coordinate social media content (Policy/External Affairs), collaborating with the Marketing team on campaigns.
- Develop, build, and maintain media contact lists while tracking industry and political developments.
- Produce detailed engagement reports and campaign analytics for leadership.
- Assist with political monitoring, social media analysis, and public affairs support.

Additional Support:
- Available for out-of-hours media monitoring (rotating evenings/weekends).
- Occasional ad-hoc PR tasks as needed by the team.
About You
Essential
✔ Experience working in a press office, PR agency, or journalism environment. ✔ Demonstrable ability to craft high-quality social media content for diverse channels. ✔ Knowledge of ethical AI use for content creation/analysis. ✔ Strong skills in written/communications (emails, face-to-face, phone). ✔ Capacity to work under tight deadlines, juggle priorities, and react quickly to breaking news. ✔ Attention to detail, resourcefulness, and collaborative teamwork.
Desirable
📌 Genuine enthusiasm for a career in PR and continuous professional development. 📌 Familiarity with public affairs/social media monitoring tools. 📌 Interest in management/education sector issues.
