Junior Private Banker – Manchester
Join us as a Junior Private Banker within our growing Private Banking and Wealth Management team based in Manchester.
The Private Banking team offers bespoke banking and investment solutions to Ultra High-Net-Worth (UHNW) clients. Barclays Private Bankers act as trusted advisors, providing customised banking services, lending, wealth structuring, and a world-class range of investment solutions across all asset classes.
Private Bankers are expected to:
- Identify, initiate, build, and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure effective opportunity streams for new clients, assets, and revenues
- Act proactively to identify and develop opportunities
- Influence stakeholders to create and strengthen partnerships, driving performance
Responsibilities
Support the Senior Private Banker in growing a portfolio of UHNW clients by:
- Understanding their financial goals and risk appetites
- Acting as the primary point of contact, delivering exceptional service and personalised financial advice
- Conducting regular estate planning, succession, and offshore structuring reviews (where relevant)
- Providing market trends, economic updates, and investment opportunities to keep clients informed
Key tasks include:
- Assisting in bespoke portfolio management and investment advice
- Developing and executing tailored strategies to attract and retain wealthy clients
- Representing Barclays at client events, wealth forums, and high-profile gatherings
- Representing key business acumen, strategic thinking, and regulatory compliance

Client & Portfolio Growth
- Identify and onboard new clients through networking, referrals, and partnerships
- Manage an existing portfolio while monitoring risk exposure
- Advance financial knowledge for complex client queries
Client Service & Relationship Management
- Build trust through building relationships and stakeholder engagement
- Develop cross-functional partnerships to enhance service delivery
- Advance digital fluency in managing clients’ evolving needs
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Level 4 RDR qualification or equivalent
- Exceptional client service & relationship management skills with experience in managing UHNW portfolios
- Risk assessment & controls management in high-value client books
- Strong knowledge of global economics, politics, and market impact on client investment strategies
Desirable Experience
- Previous work in Private Banking with clients holding minimum £3m investable assets
- Extensive credit, deposits, portfolio, and financial promotion expertise
- Familiarity with digital trends and how they influence client decision-making
Regulatory Requirements
This role is regulated by the PRA & UK Financial Conduct Authority under Certificate of Registration. The role may require additional mandatory qualifications.

- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, risk frameworks, and internal policies

Accountabilities
Client Relationship Management
- Lead proactive strategy discussions with clients to refine individualized financial plans
- Address complex client queries with subject matter expertise
- Manage portfolio risks (operational, reputational, financial crime, and credit) to align with company frameworks
Regulatory & Compliance Standards
- Adhere to Barclays group policies, reporting protocols, and regulatory requirements
- Foster cross-team collaboration through referral networks and stakeholder engagements
