Senior 3D Product Designer (SolidWorks) – Northern Design Office

Join our client’s dynamic play and leisure design studio, based in the UK, where you’ll develop engaging and innovative products for schools, parks, swimming pools, soft play centres, theme parks, museums, and global partners.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced, creative team, shaping ideas from initial concept through 3D modelling, technical drawings, and production documentation using SolidWorks. Your role will span project variety, from independent designs to collaborations with industry-leading brands worldwide.

You’ll contribute to multiple stages:

  • Conceptualising and refining ideas
  • Building 3D assembly models, technical drawings, and installation instructions
  • Managing data and collaborative visuals using industry-standard software

Responsibilities

  • Translate creative concepts into fully realised 3D product models using SolidWorks, with technical precision.
  • Focus on play and leisure industries, ensuring designs align with global market standards and safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with the studio to visualise solutions via KeyShot, and refine brand and marketing assets (Photoshop/Illustrator).
  • Deliver detailed documentation for production—technical drawings, assembly guides, and installation references.
  • Engage actively with stakeholders to evolve designs based on feedback, balancing creativity and practical outcomes.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will showcase:

✔ Strong portfolio in 3D design and technical drawing, preferably within the leisure/play sector. ✔ Hands-on experience with SolidWorks (and familiarity with CAD software like Solid Edge a plus). ✔ Proven sketching skills and visual communication excellence. ✔ Confident presentation skills—comfortable communicating complex ideas clearly. ✔ Commercial awareness and problem-solving mindset, thriving under tight deadlines. ✔ Proficiency in KeyShot, Photoshop, and Illustrator enhances appeal. ✔ Ability to work organised but adaptable, juggling diverse projects with minimal oversight.
