Junior Project Planner

Project Planner – Graduate Opportunity

Location: Reading, United Kingdom || Ericsson North Europe (NEU) PMO

About the Role

Are you a recent graduate eager to start your career in project planning, governance and financial management within a global technology giant?

Join Ericsson’s North Europe Project Office (NEU PMO) and gain hands-on experience supporting Customer Project Managers, Planners, and Finance teams in planning, coordinating, and reporting on high-value customer projects.

This 12-month graduate programme is tailored for individuals passionate about data-driven project delivery, governance, and structured reporting. You will receive structured mentorship, training, and progressive responsibility to develop the skills needed for future roles in project planning, management, or financial oversight within the PMO.


Your Responsibilities

You will support the NEU PMO team in delivering structured project planning, reporting, and governance across customer projects. Key activities include:

  • Contributing to project planning & scheduling

    • Assist in translating project and contract requirements into clear deliverables, milestones, and dependencies, guided by experienced Customer Project Managers.
    • Support the use of project tools such as Site Tracker, Global Chronos, and SAP for planning.
  • Preparing dynamic project intelligence

    • Develop and maintain status reports, dashboards, and action trackers for stakeholders, ensuring visibility into progress, risks, issues, and forecasts.
    • Analyse project data to identify gaps, inconsistencies, or risks, escalating findings to relevant teams.
  • Ensuring documentation & governance compliance

    • Help maintain version control, project libraries, and audit-ready documentation to support transparent governance.
    • Collaborate across global and local teams, including Customer Project Managers, Finance teams, engineers, and customers.

  • Building cross-functional relationships
    • Work closely with failure mode professionals, procurement professionals, technology parents, and internal/external stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.

The Development & Mentorship Programme

You will participate in a structured 12-month graduate development programme, featuring:

✅ Hands-on exposure to Ericsson’s ways of working, NEU PMO processes, and project tools. ✅ Shadowing experienced Project Planners, Managers, and MCOs (Maintenance Cost Overseeing). ✅ Progressive ownership of planning and reporting tasks with regular feedback. ✅ Clear career growth path into roles such as Project Planner, Project Manager, or Maintenance Cost Overseeing Specialist. ✅ Access to Ericssons’ global learning resources for continuous skill development.


Requirements

Who we’re looking for:

  • Recent graduate with a relevant university degree (e.g., Business, Engineering, Project Management, Finance, Economics, Data/Analytics) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong motivation to build a career in project management, PMO, or project financial oversight within Ericsson.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail—comfortable working with numbers, data, and structured information.
  • Organisational strength to manage multiple tasks and see them through to completion.
  • Clear communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to adapt to diverse stakeholders.
  • Collaborative, relationship-focused attitude, thriving in multicultural environments.
  • Proactive and continuous improvement-oriented—eager to learn new tools and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Experience with planning or analytics software is advantageous.
  • Professional working proficiency in English; fluency in additional languages is a plus.
