Junior QA Officer (Double Days shift)
Junior QA Officer – Fulfilled at Thermo Fisher Scientific, Swindon
Work Schedule
Rotational Monday to Friday shifts
- Weekly pattern of double shift days:
- 1 week early shifts
- 1 week late shifts
Environmental Conditions
Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards:
- Cleanroom:
- No hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, or facial hair permitted.
- Cold Room/Freezers:
- Temperature maintained at -22°F / -6°C.
- Workspace:
- Safety glasses, gowning, gloves, and lab coat required.
- Some areas may require earplugs.
- Warehouse operations also full comly with GMP standards.

Location / Division Context: Thermo Fisher – Swindon Facility
The Swindon facility specializes in:
- Integrated sterile liquid and lyophilized product development
- High potency products and Low-Volume Parenterals (LVP) manufacturing
- Development and commercial of sterile dosage forms:
- Liquid vials
- Commercial fill-finish lines
- Primary and secondary packaging vial production
Position Summary
As a Junior QA Officer, you will assist the Quality Operations team in ensuring GMP compliance across manufacturing and support functions. Your responsibilities include:

- Preparing, scanning, and archiving GMP documents to meet on-time delivery targets
- Validating visual inspections of sterile products (essential: passing Thermo Fisher’s eyesight test)
- Reviewing GMP-compliant documentation, identifying errors and discrepancies
- Ensuring GMP adherence across document logging, audits and procedures
- Maintaining training records for all personnel to promote compliance
- Understanding emergency procedures and implementing safe work practices
- Monitoring compliance with environmental, health, safety, and security requirements:
- Reporting and investigating accidents, near misses and workplace breaches
Responsibilities

Document Control:
- Preparation, scanning, and archiving of GMP documentation
- Setup and completion of accurate permanent records

Visual Inspection:
- Conducting independent verification tests of sterile products
- Passing Thermo Fisher’s company eye-sight test prior to beginning

Compliance Oversight:
- Error identification in GMP documents
- Collation of findings for auditable action

Training and Policies:
- Ensuring employees complete mandatory training on time
- Provision of updates in GMP awareness as necessary

Health & Safety Coordination:
- Safeguarding adherence to EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) policies
- Conducting risk assessments and compliance reviews
- Incident reporting – timely and accurate accident/near-miss investigations
Experience & Qualifications
No dusty Pharma intro needed: We’re looking for dedicated professionals with:
- Experiential know-how in GMP-compliant environments, ideally within pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) solutions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows-based business application tools (Excel/PowerPoint etc).
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work to strict timelines and procedural deadlines
- Proven organizational and time management expertise.
