JOB PURPOSE
The key functions of the role are concept design & proposal engineering tasks, which include:
- Providing a technical sales support service to new and existing customers in order to secure profitable contracts.
- Providing pre-contract engineering support; producing concept designs & sketches, in a timely and effective manner to meet our customer’s requirements.
- Creating, developing and maintaining positive customer relationships and partnerships.
- Involvement with product development and product improvement.
JOB ACTIVITIES
- To be part of the sales & engineering point of contact for appointed customers and projects; capturing and interpreting project/customer requirements and promoting the benefits of Cullum solutions.
- Produce concept designs for our range of Products.
- Prepare documents and sketches to effectively communicate and capture the equipment required to meet the customer’s needs, such that the costs can be estimated.
- Co-ordinate the production of internal and external estimates for the proposed design solution, including the production of equipment specifications.
- Produce financial cost models of the proposed customer solution/s for Director approval.
- Produce detailed proposal documents to effectively communicate solution and the benefits offered by Cullum.
- Support & contribute to product improvement & development initiatives including continuous improvement.
- Provide effective communication with internal & external customers to assist in securing profitable contracts.
- Work closely with & support other departments in the Company to ensure that customer’s and the Company’s requirements and expectations are met.
- Where required undertake customer visits and subsequent reporting, to include UK and overseas visits.
- Assist in creating and maintaining long term relationships with our customers to support and develop the business.
- Complete clear notes and packages of technical & commercial information to ensure effective handover from the point of Sales to the Project Execution Team.
- All activities must be completed in a timely and effective manner to meet the deadlines set by our customer and the Company.
- The post Holder must work to attain optimum performance in service and delivery within their area of responsibility.
- The work is varied, may be complex and will involve changing rapidly from one task to another during the working day, often under pressure.
- Will be required to communicate with other services and outside organisations at all levels.
- Will be required to work individually and as part of a team to achieve tight deadlines, using own initiative. On occasion there may be a requirement to supervise staff.
- Will be required to seek the advice of the Sales Engineer UK & US, International Sales Director, Lead Mechanical Design Engineer & Technical & Compliance Director on difficult or contentious matters.

- Promote and represent Cullum when required, setting a good personal example at all times.

- Undertake duties as may be required within capabilities consistent with the Terms and Conditions of employment and responsibilities in accordance with UK and EC Laws.
- Undertake tasks and responsibilities assigned by line manager.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
- Engineering or Manufacturing Qualification or working towards to HND level or equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Experience within a sales or engineering team and knowledge of computerised design packages
Desirable
- Experience of working in similar Engineering or Manufacturing business related to gas turbines.
SKILLS
Essential
- Be confident in the use of IT applications and be computer literate.
- Be technically and numerically competent, with an analytical approach.
- Be commercially competent or have a desire to develop your commercial skills.
- Be able to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
- Be able to demonstrate effective organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet customer deadlines.
