Junior Sales Engineer – RMR Sales Engineer

Reports to: Project Manager – Engineering

Location: Manchester, Northern Office

Contract Type: Permanent

Introduction to the Role

Vanderlande is a global leader in logistics process automation across airports, parcel, and warehouse sectors. The UK & Ireland Airports Engineering department is part of our worldwide engineering community of over 1,000 colleagues spanning multiple technical disciplines.

As a RMR Sales Engineer, you’ll contribute to the design and delivery of innovative automation solutions for complex, real-world environments. You’ll collaborate with Sales Layout Engineering, Sales Engineering, and Sales Consultancy teams across regions, helping our customers maintain and evolve their systems.

Vanderlande is seeking an ambitious RMR Sales Engineer who is problem-solving-focused, collaborative, and capable of continuous growth. While we’re looking for potential, enthusiasm, and a proactive mindset—we encourage applications regardless of if every requirement is met.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Support the development of Life-cycle plans and Revision, Modification & Retrofit (RMR) projects, ensuring customer systems remain functional, updated, and aligned with their evolving needs.
  • Execute sales plans, consult with customers, and develop concepts and pricing for intricate RMR projects.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Pricing, Procurement, Planning, Engineering) across pre-bid, bid, and closing phases to secure projects.
  • Prepare the concept and pricing for projects, ensuring alignment with all teams and external partners.
  • Secure and organize a seamless project kick-off with the Service Project Manager following a successful quote win.
  • Work flexibly across multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating adaptability and time management.

Additionally, you will:

  • Co-develop a winning sales strategy with the Sales Manager, translating it into tailored solutions for customers.
  • Resolve commercial and tactical challenges with the Sales Manager.
  • Interpret customer needs while understanding industry practices, operational workflows, and stakeholder dynamics.
  • Manage all sales engineering deliverables, coordinating experts across multiple disciplines to propose optimal solutions.
  • Lead the internal sales project team in line with sales/bid planning, steering the effort toward a winning outcome.
  • Provide senior management with bid status updates on progress and roadblocks.
  • Consolidate the final offer — technical solution, project planning, pricing, and terms — into a clear quotation document.
  • Present technical solutions persuasively to customers, highlighting value and aligning with their operational goals.
  • Demonstrate exceptional listening and analytical skills during customer consultations.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
