Junior Sister - Gynaecology
Band 6 Gynaecology Junior Sister
Location: Barts Health, London Contract Type: NHS permanency (30 hours per week, partially flexible to include shifts of 12 hours or 7.30 hours)
About the Role
We are seeking a **motivated and compassionate Band 6 Gynaecology Junior Sister to join our dynamic team at Barts Health, a leading NHS provider in east London.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within our busy and diverse outpatient gynaecology service. The successful candidate will shape the experience of women accessing our emergency gynaecology, early pregnancy, and outpatient procedure clinics.
As a Band 6 Junior Sister, you will:
- Provide expert clinical care
- Mentor junior colleagues and students
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement in patient services
- Be a collaborative team member who demonstrates leadership potential and a strong commitment to women’s health

Responsibilities
- Deliver patient-centred, high-quality gynaecology care in diverse and demanding clinical settings.
- Support outpatient and emergency services, including early pregnancy and procedural clinics.
- Act as a clinical mentor, guiding junior staff and student nurses in best practice.
- Contribute to service development, helping refine processes and enhance patient outcomes.
- Work flexibly in shift patterns, including up to 12-hour and 7.30-hour shifts as required.
- Embrace a proactive and collaborative approach, fostering an inclusive and coherent care team.
Requirements
- Current registration as a qualified nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Proven experience in gynaecology nursing, ideally with outpatient/emergency service exposure.
- Strong clinical judgment and a passion for women’s health.
- Excellent communication and leadership potential.
- Commitment to involvement in training and mentorship.
- Willingness to engage with 30-hour flexible contracts, including long shifts.
