The Role
We are looking for a motivated Junior Software Developer who is keen to build tech-for-good solutions, and who shares our passion for work that improves people’s lives and protects those most vulnerable across society. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career to develop their skills in a supportive team, working alongside experienced developers who will mentor your growth.

Synalogik develops technology that enables organisations to work effectively with complex and disparate data sources. Through automated workflows, our platform collects, processes, and analyses data from a wide range of trusted datasets, allowing users to handle large volumes of information quickly and reliably.
Our flagship product, Scout®, helps people make better decisions by bringing together useful information from different sources, supported by systems that are built to be reliable and able to scale.
Scout® has become the compliance and investigation platform to a third of the UK gambling market, UK Government Agencies, Insurance, legal and banking companies.
Despite our long client list, this is just the beginning for Synalogik. There are a raft of new innovations in the works, and the chance to be part of a rapidly expanding team, work with our data science and industry experts, ensure that your ideas get supported, and then get the satisfaction of seeing them in products used in Tier 1 businesses.
Key responsibilities
You will:
- Help design, develop, test, and maintain software for our intelligence platform, Scout, under the guidance of senior developers.
- Write clean, well-documented code for cloud-native applications, with support and feedback from the team.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers.
- Learn to troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software issues.
- Take part in code reviews as an opportunity to learn and improve.
- Contribute ideas to help improve development processes, tools, and coding standards.
- Build your knowledge of relevant technologies and best practices, with dedicated time for learning and development.

Essential Requirements
This role will require security clearance; this requires the successful applicant to either be a British Citizen or have worked continuously in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
Skills Required
We are looking for someone with:
- Some experience with a programming language such as Java or Go, gained through a degree, bootcamp, personal projects, an internship, or a junior role.
- A basic understanding of software engineering principles.
- Familiarity with version control tools, especially Git.
- Enthusiasm for writing clear, maintainable code and a willingness to learn best practices.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine interest in developing a career in software engineering.
Desirable skills
It would be beneficial to have experience with:
- API integrations.
- AWS services (DynamoDB, Lambda, etc).
- Automated testing.
- Security best practices.
- Using AI conscientiously as a learning and efficiency tool, while building a full understanding of the codebase.
- Basic understanding of, or some practical experience working within, Agile methodologies.

- Competitive salary of £24,000 – £30,000.
