JUNIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Reports to: Data Engineering Manager | Quedgeley, Gloucester (Hybrid) | Full-time, Permanent
Avantis Education is the team behind ClassVR and Eduverse, immersive learning technologies used in classrooms across more than 90 countries and winners of the King’s Award for Enterprise.
We’re looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join our Technology and Development Team and help build the software that supports education worldwide.
This is a great opportunity for a talented and inquisitive engineer early in their career. You'll use Python and Node.js to build tools, automations and integrations and help manage the data that powers our business. Working closely with senior engineers and our support and operations teams, you'll learn our systems, including Zoho and grow into an engineer who can take ownership of projects from start to finish.

What you’ll do
- Develop, test, debug and ship software
- Build scripts, tools and integrations using Python and Node.js
- Work with data, importing, cleaning, transforming and reporting
- Learn and support our Zoho platform and related workflows
- Write clear documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, product managers and operations
- Stay updated on industry trends and innovations
What you’ll bring
- Experience of, or exposure to, Python and/or Node.js
- Willingness to learn Zoho and confidence handling data
- Eagerness to learn, grow and solve problems
- Familiarity with Git or any version control system
- A degree in computing or a related field, or equivalent experience

Desirable: familiarity with Agile practices, knowledge of generative AI, or familiarity with other languages such as JavaScript, SQL or Bash
