Junior Software Engineer
Junior Software Developer | Nottingham | Up to £30,000 | 2 days hybrid
We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established Nottingham software house for a Junior Developer to join a close-knit engineering team.
This is a genuine career-starter role with a business that invests heavily in its people, offering structured training, real ownership from day one, and a culture built around doing things properly rather than rushing things out.
The Project
You'll be working on the company's flagship platform, a major ongoing programme migrating legacy products into a single modern system running entirely in Azure. AI is woven throughout the development workflow, with GitHub Copilot licences for the whole team and a real focus on integrating AI capabilities into the product itself.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What They're Looking For
- Around 9 to 12 months of commercial development experience, or a Computer Science degree with a placement year completed.
- A placement year is essential for graduate applicants, it's the baseline, not a nice-to-have.
- Solid understanding of C# and object-oriented principles.
- Familiarity with SQL Server and relational databases.
- Comfortable with the fundamentals of cloud computing, Azure experience is a bonus.
- Someone who'll contribute to the team, not just the ticket queue.
