The Roof Gardens is a social club in the sky, 100 feet above the streets of Kensington. Close to an acre of private gardens with views across London to the horizon, The Roof Gardens is a new generation members club.
A place of escape, bursting with wildflowers, olive and mulberry trees, grassy lawns and hidden nooks. An Art Deco gem created in 1938, The Roof Gardens has a legendary legacy. The Roof Gardens’ community is united by open-mindedness, optimism and kindness, not defined by background.
The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Junior Sound Engineer who would like to gain valuable hands-on experience in live sound, video and entertainment within a fast-paced private members’ club.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their technical skills, work alongside experienced professionals and build a strong CV. The role will support a diverse programme of DJ sets, live bands, conference talks and multifunctional events while working with high-profile clients and performers.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure high-quality sound for DJs, live bands and other performances.
- Set up, test and operate AV and DJ equipment, including CDJs, turntables, controllers, mixers, microphones and screens.
- Mix microphones live for speeches, talks and panel discussions.
- Balance audio levels and support smooth transitions between different events and room configurations.
- Operate, maintain and troubleshoot professional audio equipment, including L-Acoustics sound systems, Q-SYS systems, mixers, amplifiers and microphones.
- Work closely with DJs, musicians and performers to meet their technical requirements.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with performers, the Events team, management and other club departments.
- Assist with the preparation, setup and breakdown of equipment for live events.

Skills And Experience
We are particularly interested in candidates who have:
- A basic understanding of live sound, audio equipment and signal flow.
- An interest in DJ equipment, live music and events.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The initiative to work independently and as part of a team.
- A practical and proactive approach to live problem-solving.
- The ability to remain reliable and composed in a fast-paced environment.
- A willingness to learn and develop their technical knowledge.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and late-night shifts.
- A friendly and professional approach suited to a high-profile hospitality environment.
