About the Role

We are hiring for the position of Junior Sous Chef to ensure the smooth execution and presentation of food and beverage excellence within our dynamic kitchen environment.

This role involves supervising kitchen staff, maintaining high food safety and quality standards, and supporting management in operational tasks while contributing to a positive and efficient team atmosphere.


Responsibilities

Kitchen Operations & Service

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of cooks and kitchen workers to ensure smooth kitchen workflow
  • Determine food presentation and create decorative food displays, ensuring proper portioning, arrangement, and garnishes for optimal guest experience
  • Monitor food quantities and service needs to minimize waste and fulfill menu requirements
  • Inform F&B service staff of menu specials, stockouts, and availability
  • Prepare special meals or substitute items as needed
  • Delegate and assist kitchen staff by providing required items and tools
  • Maintain kitchen stock logs for food safety and inventory control, ensuring compliance with quality standards
  • Inspect and report any food items that do not meet specifications to management

Staff Management & Compliance

  • Assist in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, coaching, and disciplining employees (2+ years of supervisory experience preferred)
  • Enforce company policies, including safety, security, and maintenance procedures
  • Ensure cleanliness and professionalism—uniform adherence, personal appearance, and confidentiality of proprietary information
  • Protect company assets and report any safety concerns or accidents
  • Complete safety training and certifications as required by the company
  • Follow all safety and security protocols to maintain a secure work environment

Guest Relations & Team Collaboration

  • Address guest service needs with attentive, professional communication
  • Respond to feedback and serve as a liaison between kitchen and service teams
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with teammates and support the team’s collective goals
  • Collaborate effectively in a busy environment, including roles that require standing, bending, carrying, and precision

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods
  • Reach overhead and below-knees level (twisting, bending, pulling, stooping)
  • Carry and maneuver objects up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to perform reasonable job duties as directed by supervision

Preferred Qualifications

Education & Certifications

  • A technical, trade, or vocational degree (or equivalent training)
  • No licensing or certifications explicitly required (but food safety knowledge is a plus)

Experience

  • 4–6 years of related work experience in a food service environment
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience in food preparation or culinary operations
