Line Cook – Aloft Hotels

Position Summary

  • Prepare special meals or substitute items
  • Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters
  • Pull food from freezer storage to thaw in the refrigerator
  • Ensure proper portioning, food arrangement, and garnish
  • Maintain food logs and monitor quality and quantity of prepared items
  • Communicate assistance needed during busy periods
  • Inform the Chef of excess food items for daily specials
  • Notify Food & Beverage (F&B) service staff about menu specials and out-of-stock items
  • Uphold quality standards for food items
  • Prepare and cook food following recipes, quality standards, presentation guidelines, and preparation checklists
  • Prepare cold foods

Key Responsibilities

  • Staff Supervision & Management:
    • Assist management in recruiting, training, scheduling, evaluating, and coaching employees
    • Serve as a role model for team performance
  • Compliance & Safety:
    • Follow all company, safety, and security protocols
    • Report maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions
    • Complete safety training and certifications
  • Professionalism & Communication:
    • Maintain a clean, professional uniform and adhere to appearance standards
    • Keep proprietary information confidential and safeguard company assets
    • Anticipate and address guests’ service needs
    • Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and customers

  • Customer Service:

    • Build and maintain positive working relationships with your team
    • Collaborate to meet group goals
    • Listen actively and address employee concerns appropriately
  • Physical Demands:

    • Perform duties requiring prolonged standing, sitting, or walking
    • Reach overhead and below knees, including bending, twisting, and kneeling
    • Lift, carry, push, or pull objects (≤ 25 lbs) without assistance
    • Adhere to any additional duties as requested by supervisors

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Diploma/Degree
  • Work Experience: Minimum 3 years in a related culinary role
  • Licensing: No supervisory experience required
  • Certifications: Other relevant experience highly welcome
