Junior Yacht Exterior Designer

RWD is searching for an outstanding Junior Yacht Exterior Designer to join our award-winning yacht design studio.

Bringing passion, enthusiasm, and a strong creative foundation, our Junior Designers support project teams across the studio. This is an exciting entry-level role at RWD, where, under the guidance of our senior designers, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute, grow, and immerse yourself in the world of exceptional yacht design.

About the Role

Assisting across all stages of the design process—from creative 2D and 3D work to CAD and visualisation—you’ll bring a solid design foundation, a willingness to learn, and a natural dedication to excellence. A keen eye for detail is essential, as is an openness to feedback and a collaborative, positive attitude. Responsibilities

Support the design team across all stages of the design process, contributing to a wide range of projects and deliverables:

  • Communicate initial design ideas and concepts through hand sketches and other visual techniques
  • Develop designs in 2D AutoCAD, supporting technical development and producing accurate drawings
  • Use Photoshop to develop and communicate design intent:
    • Painted exterior profile development
    • Visual manipulations and colour general arrangements (GAs)
  • Create and refine detailed 3D Rhino models to support the design process and produce high-quality visualisations
  • Assist in preparing and delivering professional client presentations, ensuring design concepts are communicated clearly and effectively
  • Manage workload and priorities to meet project deadlines, keeping the team updated on progress
  • Show initiative and self-motivation by staying current with:
    • industry trends
    • emerging technologies
    • relevant software developments

Requirements

  • Graduate or Master’s-level degree, preferably in Yacht, Automotive, or Product design
  • 1 year of experience is desirable
  • Good understanding of form and surface treatment
  • Working knowledge of key design tools:
    • AutoCAD
    • Rhino
    • Photoshop
    • InDesign
    • Hand sketching
    • KeyShot, or other visualisation software
  • An adaptable, collaborative approach
  • Passionate designer with a strong appetite to learn
  • Eligible to work in the UK
