Job summary: JW Steakhouse Assistant Restaurant Manager
Serve as a departmental role model, effectively supporting the Head of Department, (HOD) and Restaurant Manager to manage the departments operation and the team of associates. You should maintain a highly motivated team, drive high standards of service whist maximising revenue, actively working to achieve department goals.
Experience:
- Previous experience working in an F&B Operation at a supervisory level.
Skills and Knowledge:

Education or Certification
- Good level of English essential
What you’ll do as our newly appointed JW Steakhouse Assistant Restaurant Manager:
- Assist with the supervision of all F&B associates throughout the hotel and assist the Department head in the overall running of the outlet and to deputise his/her absence.
- To ensure compliance with quality assurance standards, company standards and external regulations including department checklists, food and drink presentation and the brand standard audit. Hold team members accountable and employ coaching tactics if they do not.
- Drive results within the department, focusing on goals set by senior management. A focus will be on guest satisfaction measures, associate engagement departmental revenue and department profit.
- Ensure that hourly employees have the necessary resources to effectively perform their jobs (e.g., supplies, equipment, and inventory) and that the department is staffed appropriately ensuring that guest service, operational needs and financial objectives are met.
- Protect company tools, equipment, machines, or other assets in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Manages team effectively to achieve department goals. Effectively communicate goals and performance expectations.
- Performs all duties of outlet employees and assist associates at busy times, completing shifts where required.
- To ensure that the guest's bill is recorded accurately and presented properly and efficiently. Ensure that payment is received from all guests and payment is posted through Micros. Appropriate cash handling procedures must be used.
- To be responsible for the safe keeping of all keys and micros cards and ensure that relevant areas and stocks are secure at the end of shift.
- Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on quality and service levels, developing an ongoing rapport with regular guests.
- Encourages employees to provide excellent customer service, being a role model for this behavior, setting a positive example for guest relations. Actively monitor GSS and provide solutions if needed.
- To be empowered to handle guest problems and complaints, seeking assistance from senior management if needed.
- Coach and develop employees. Create expectations for continual improvement, provide challenging tasks and assignments, hold development discussions, and construct and execute development plans.
- Be responsible for your own self development.
- Handles employee questions and concerns, listen to their suggestions for improving how work is done.
- Assign and ensure work tasks are completed on time, take responsibility for tasks and assignments, and made sure deadlines are met. Make decisions and provide input on possible improvements.
- To control Par level stock and inter-departmental transfers in accordance with finance and procedures every month end and administer spot checks if needed.
- To take an innovative approach to continuous improvement, adapt to changes and be always productive and pro-active in all aspects.
- Manage on-going training initiatives, identifying training requirements for associates, develop appropriate actions to meet these and this should include self.
- To provide both positive and constructive feedback to all associates using ‘de-brief’, one-on-one meetings and LPP’s.
- To drive associate morale, through recognition, empowerment and develop associates for promotion
- Provides information to supervisors, co-workers, subordinates, and senior leaders by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
- To facilitate good up and down flow of communication within the department, including shift briefings, handovers, email, telephone and in person.
- Analyzes information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- To aid HOD in the selection and interviewing process of associates, whilst meeting appropriate levels of staff and as per budget.
- Keep up to date with new ideas for improving the department.
