ESL Teacher – Cornerstone Academy, Westerville, Ohio
About the Position
ACCEL Schools is recruiting a passionate ESL Teacher for Cornerstone Academy in Westerville, Ohio. As part of our award-winning charter school, you will foster student success by delivering engaging, high-quality instruction to a diverse student body while prioritizing academic, social-emotional, and bilingual growth.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Design and deliver flexible, research-backed lesson plans, adjusting instruction throughout the year to accommodate student skill levels
- Differentiate instruction to support bilingual learners, ESL students, and diverse ability levels
- Track and report student progress through frequent assessments and structured documentation
- Foster a positive, culturally responsive classroom environment that prioritises both academic learning and social-emotional development
- Integrate reptable school-wide curricula that reflects the linguistic, cultural, and academic needs of the student body
- Collaborate with colleagues on whole-school initiatives—including STEM projects, arts programs, and after-school clubs—while deapping classroom observations and actionable feedback
- Use technology as a tool to enhance teaching and student engagement
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about academic and behavioural goals
- Lead non-instructional activities (field trips, special events, supervision outside the classroom)
- Ensure a safe, respectful school environment aligning with Ohio DE’s expectations

About You
We seek dynamic, passionate educators with:
Qualifications
- Active Ohio teaching license in ESL or related field
- Bachelor’s degree in education, linguistics, or a related humanities/social sciences discipline (international candidates whose degrees may not align with Ohio requirements encouraged to apply)
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Work effectively in a data-driven, coaching-focused school environment (e.g., regular observation check-ins)
- Emphasise student agency and social-emotional readiness alongside academics
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information for families
- Comfort managing confidential information (e.g., IEP data, family details)
- Experience supervising diverse groups (e.g., playgrounds, cafeterias, or small-group instructional time)
- Clear criminal background check (federal and state level)
Preferred Experience
- Working in an urban or multicultural school setting
- Background in bilingualism education or ELL instructional strategies

- Starting salary range: $48,000–$57,500 (based on qualifications, market adjustments, and experience)
