The Account Specialist is the primary contact for GP practices and community pharmacies across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG), ensuring the delivery of safe, reliable and high-quality healthcare waste services. Combining account management with operational oversight, you'll build strong customer relationships, resolve day-to-day operational issues, identify opportunities for service improvement and support local sustainability goals. Working collaboratively with internal teams and healthcare stakeholders, you'll play a key role in delivering an outstanding customer experience, driving continuous improvement and supporting the delivery of an essential healthcare service.
This is a field-based role requiring regular travel across the BNSSG region. Typically, you'll spend 3 days each week visiting customer sites, one day at our Swindon site, and one day working from home.
What you’ll be doing
Account Management & Customer Support
- Act as the primary point of contact for GP practices, community pharmacies and BNSSG stakeholders, building strong relationships and delivering excellent customer service.
- Resolve day-to-day operational issues, support service changes and mobilisation activities, and proactively manage customer enquiries.
- Carry out regular site visits and stakeholder meetings, providing feedback to support service improvements and customer satisfaction.

Site Performance, Compliance & Improvement
- Conduct site visits and audits to monitor service performance, identify improvement opportunities and support safe, effective waste management practices.
- Analyse audit findings and operational data, including Power BI dashboards, to identify trends, improve waste segregation and enhance service performance.
- Track actions through to completion, contributing to continuous improvement, innovation and sustainability initiatives.
Training, Engagement & Sustainability
- Deliver training and awareness sessions to healthcare staff, promoting best practice in waste management.
- Develop and share practical guidance, resources and communications to support behavioural change and continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and BNSSG partners to deliver sustainability initiatives, social value commitments and contract improvement projects.
Do you have what it takes?
We're looking for a proactive, customer-focused individual who enjoys building relationships, solving problems and making a real impact. You'll be confident working independently, managing multiple priorities, using data and insight to drive improvements. Experience in healthcare, environmental services or another regulated industry would be an advantage, but isn't essential.
Essential
- Strong communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and solve problems proactively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office & digital systems to analyse data and identify improvement opportunities.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across the BNSSG region.

Desirable
- Experience within healthcare, waste management, environmental services or another regulated sector.
- Experience in an operational, account management, customer success, field-based or customer-facing role.
- Experience conducting site visits, audits, training, inspections or compliance reviews.
- Understanding of sustainability, environmental management or carbon reduction initiatives.
- Experience using data and performance metrics to drive operational improvements.
