Kitchen Assistant
Kitchen Assistant – Greene King Pubs
About the Role
Join us at Greene King Pubs, where we are the heartbeat of our communities—where people gather, connect, and enjoy moments together. Our pubs are more than just venues; they’re local heroes, bustling with activity, quality food, and lively events. As a Kitchen Assistant, you’ll be a vital part of this local hospitality hub, ensuring smooth operations in the kitchen while contributing to a warm, supportive atmosphere for both staff and customers.
As part of our team, you’ll form first impressions, support the on-site team to deliver excellent guest experiences and back of house operations in a dynamic and fast-paced working environment.
Responsibilities
- Support the on-site kitchen team with servicing, prepping, cooking, and cleaning food and equipment.
- Maintain hygiene and safety standards in the kitchen to ensure the wellbeing of teams and customers—because UK hospitality has some of the highest standards!
- Collect waste cutlery, plates, and crockery for cleaning and switch plates from sills to pass-through trays.
- Help to fill coffee stock outside service hours as required.
- Wash up equipment and crockery to high standards and sanitise surfaces throughout the day. Repack and store cleaning chemicals.
- Connect with your colleagues across kitchen and serving duties to ensure everything runs smoothly together.
- Restock ingredients, place orders, and fill shelves where required, assisting with the efficient rechock in busy service – think of it as restaurant futures, a little too early!
- Support with kitchen operations before, during and after service Thursday–Sunday, nailed-on every weekend at Portsbridge
About You
You’ll show up with enthusiasm and be ready to grab every role with your team, because we’re all in this to make the kitchen (and the pub!) the place to be for our crowds. You’ll relish the chance to learn while contributing to vibrant social events – controlling the good times!
Reasons to use Rodeo
I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
