Kitchen Assistant

Kitchen Porter – Entry Level (The Bull Hotel, Olney)

Company Description

The Bull Hotel is located in the centre of Olney, at the heart of the local community. A former 17th-century coaching inn, it now operates as a Pub, Restaurant & Hotel overlooking the Market Place, offering a relaxed spot to watch the world go by.

Position

This is an entry-level kitchen porter role, a critical position within our team. The kitchen needs hardworking and reliable staff to keep things running smoothly—no matter how skilled our chefs are, clean pans are a necessity for cooking.

We celebrate the importance of this role and believe a kitchen porter is the backbone of an efficient kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring basic cleaning duties are carried out efficiently and promptly
  • Collecting, scrubbing, and washing up pots, pans, and crockery
  • Cleaning and sanitising food preparation areas, equipment, cutlery, and kitchen surfaces
  • Unloading food and equipment deliveries with accuracy
  • Maintaining an organised store room for inventory and supplies
  • Keeping work surfaces, walls, and floors and spillages cleaned and sanitised
  • Basic food preparation tasks, including making salads and desserts where required
  • Performing additional duties as needed, such as:
    • Deep cleaning schedules
    • Laundering kitchen towels, aprons, and uniform items

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
