Job Title: Kitchen Assistant
Location: Bradford Beacon School, Rooley Lane, Bradford, BD5 8LJ
Hours: 15 hours per week | Monday - Friday | 11.00am - 2.00pm
Salary: £8,864.25 per annum (£13.25p/h, not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: September 2026

About the Role
As Bradford Beacon School prepares to open its doors, we're looking for a caring, enthusiastic and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join our founding team. This is more than preparing and serving meals—it's about creating a welcoming dining experience where pupils feel supported, valued and encouraged. You'll play an important role in the daily life of our specialist school, helping ensure every child enjoys nutritious meals in a safe, clean and positive environment.

What You'll Be Doing
- Prepare, serve and present healthy, nutritious meals while maintaining excellent food hygiene standards.
- Create a clean, safe and welcoming dining environment for pupils and staff.
- Supervise and support pupils during lunchtime, encouraging positive behaviour, independence and good table manners.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen and dining areas, ensuring compliance with food safety and Health & Safety regulations.
- Assist with food deliveries, stock rotation and minimising food waste.
- Complete food temperature records and maintain accurate kitchen documentation.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the catering service runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Support the wider school team while promoting safeguarding, wellbeing and a positive school culture.

Who We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who:
- Has a positive, friendly and flexible approach to work.
- Enjoys working as part of a team and building positive relationships with children and colleagues.
- Is organised, reliable and able to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Understands the importance of food hygiene, cleanliness and Health & Safety (experience is desirable but not essential).
- Is resilient, proactive and able to use their own initiative.
- Is willing to undertake training and continually develop their skills.
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
About Us
Bradford Beacon School, opened in September 2025, is a brand-new specialist independent school for children aged 4–11 with autism and associated complex needs. Set in a purpose-built, thoughtfully refurbished environment, the school provides a safe, nurturing, and inclusive setting where every child feels valued. Pupils follow a broad, enriched curriculum that develops communication, social, emotional, and life skills alongside academic achievement. With personalised teaching and therapeutic support from a dedicated staff and clinical team, every child’s individual needs are met. As the school grows to 42 pupils over the next two years, there is an exciting opportunity to help shape its inclusive, supportive culture.
