The Venue

A cornerstone of South Yorkshire’s entertainment scene, Utilita Arena Sheffield has been welcoming audiences since 1991. Purpose-built for world-class live events, the arena hosts an exciting mix of international music acts, major sporting fixtures, and large-scale corporate events. With a capacity of over 13,000, it stands as one of the region’s premier venues, combining a rich history with a vibrant programme that continues to attract visitors from across the UK.

The Role

As a Casual Kitchen Assistant you will play a key role in supporting the kitchen team by ensuring a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. You will assist in food preparation, washing dishes, and maintaining kitchen equipment and utensils, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness are upheld.

Start Date: We are looking for candidates who are available to start at the beginning of September, with a couple of induction shifts throughout August.

You’ll also have the opportunity to work with brand new equipment in a recently upgraded kitchen, supporting an exciting new phase of our food operation.

The Responsibilities

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across all kitchen areas, including equipment, utensils, and surfaces.
  • Support the kitchen team with food preparation, including basic tasks such as chopping and ingredient prep.
  • Ensure all dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment are cleaned and sanitised efficiently.
  • Assist with stock deliveries, ensuring items are stored correctly and safely.
  • Dispose of kitchen waste safely and maintain a tidy working environment.
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider kitchen team to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • Prioritise tasks effectively to support service during busy periods

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or similar fast-paced environment is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of hygiene and food safety standards.
  • A positive, can-do attitude with a willingness to support the wider team.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a physically demanding role.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain a professional approach at all times.
  • A team player with strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and busy event periods.
