Role Overview

The Kitchen Porter is responsible for supporting the Head Chef and the kitchen team in ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, organisation and impeccable standards of sanitation are maintained throughout the food preparation areas line with the luxury standards expected at a five-star property.

The Kitchen Porter takes pride in being part of delivering unparalleled luxury culinary experiences to Montcalm Collection customers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a pristine kitchen environment by ensuring that all workstations, floors and surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and sanitised according to Health & Safety Standards.
  • Clean and store all kitchen equipment, utensils and appliances to a high standard.
  • Regularly dispose of waste, recycling and food by-products, adhering to hotel guidelines and sustainability practices.
  • Effectively operate industrial dishwashers to clean cutlery, glassware, plates and kitchen equipment.
  • Hand-wash delicate items and ensure proper handling of the fine China, crystal, glassware, and premium kitchen tools.
  • Assist chefs with basic food preparation, including peeling, chopping and storing ingredients as needed.
  • Keep the kitchen stocked with necessary supplies, including ensuring sufficient levels of crockery, utensils and cleaning products.
  • Assist with receiving and organising deliveries, ensuring food items are properly stored, labelled and rotated in line with “First In, First Out” (FIFO) principle.
  • Monitor the temperature of kitchen appliances (fridges, freezers, etc) to ensure safe storage of food.
  • Report any maintenance or repair issues to the management.
  • Work closely with the culinary and service teams to ensure a seamless flow of service, contributing to the overall guest experience.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to anticipate needs and maintain smooth kitchen operations.

Skills And Qualifications

  • A friendly and approachable attitude.

  • Strong organisational skills and multitasking abilities.
  • Punctual, reliable, responsible and proud of own work.
  • Previous experience in a similar role in the kitchen preferred.
  • Understanding of food hygiene and safety regulations (HACCP).

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Physical demands such as being on the feet for long periods of time and manual handling.

Eligibility
