About the Role
A Kitchen Porter is the backbone of a smoothly running kitchen. If you have a passion for maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient workspace, combined with physical stamina, attention to detail, and strong communication skills, this role is for you.
As a Kitchen Porter at BaxterStorey, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting our chefs and cooks, ensuring our kitchens operate with the same precision and quality as our menus. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
Responsibilities

Dishwashing:
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment either by hand or using industrial dishwashers.

Kitchen Cleanliness:
- Clean and sanitise all kitchen surfaces, countertops, and food preparation areas.
- Empty rubbish bins and handle proper waste disposal.
- Maintain equipment in good working order while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

Food Preparation:
- Assist chefs and cooks with basic food prep, including peeling, chopping, and slicing ingredients.

Inventory Management:
- Help receive, store, and organise kitchen supplies, ingredients, and equipment.
Core Competencies & Qualifications
- Physical abilities: Strong stamina for standing and lifting heavy objects for extended periods.
- Attention to detail: Ability to follow instructions and ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
- Basic kitchen knowledge: Familiarity with kitchen equipment and sanitation practices is beneficial.
- Teamwork: Strong communication and collaboration skills required.
- Education: No formal education is required—however, a high school diploma or equivalent is beneficial.
Note: No experience is necessary! Motivation and a willingness to learn make you a great candidate.
