Location: YMCA Lakeside, lakeside of Lake Windermere
About the Role
Are you passionate about maintaining a well-organised, clean kitchen? Do you have stamina, attention to detail, and strong communication and teamwork skills?
We’re looking for a Kitchen Porter at BaxterStorey, where exceptional experiences and memorable moments are at the heart of what we do. This seasonal role at YMCA Lakeside involves supporting kitchen operations for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, serving staff and residents.

Responsibilities
Your role will involve working in a high-energy, fast-paced kitchen environment with a focus on:
- Dishwashing – Operating industrial dishwashers, handwashing, and maintaining hygiene standards.
- Cleanliness & Sanitation – Ensuring kitchen and dining areas are immaculately clean, including countertops, preparation surfaces, and waste disposal.
- Food Preparation Assist – Helping chefs with basic tasks like peeling, chopping, and slicing.
- Inventory Management – Supporting stock organisation and food supplies.
- Compliance & Security – Ensuring Health & Safety standards are maintained, including equipment upkeep and risk management.
- Breakfast Support – Occasionally assisting breakfast shift workers.
Position Details:
- Start date: April
- Temporary full-time role (likely runs through to the end of October, with opportunity for extension).
- Live-in option available (discussed at interview stage).
- Seasons-adjacent vista – Perfect for lake lovers craving access to the Lake District.
Requirements
We’d Love to Hear From You If You Have:
- No formal qualifications required.
- Physical stamina (standing for extended periods; lifting heavy objects).
- Strong attention to detail, clear communication, and ability to follow instructions.
- Basic knowledge of kitchen sanitation or equipment is a plus.
- Teamwork and adaptability in a harmonious environment.
