Food Production Associate - Kitchen & Catering
About the Role
Prepare breakfast and/or lunch offerings, assist with serving lines, and participate in occasional catering functions. Perform all core kitchen duties.

Responsibilities
Production
- Serving & Food Preparation:
- Set up serving lines daily, ensuring all food is maintained at the required temperatures (milk coolers included).
- Prepare foods in line with menu plans, Opaa!’s recipes, and advance preps for the following day’s service.
- Operate kitchen equipment (slicers, mixers, grinders) with proper certification.
- Keep all kitchen and cafeteria areas neat, clean, and organised, including equipment and dishware.
- Inventory & Safety:
- Maintain FIFO (First In/First Out) procedures for cooler and storage racks.
- Clean and monitor dishwasher area, including chemical usage and equipment.
- Resupply serving stations with napkins, utensils, and dishes as needed.
- Handle food requisitions via the Kitchen Manager.
- Food Service:
- Prepare baked goods (bread, cakes, cookies) following menu requirements.
- Practice batch cooking for consistency and quality presentation.
- Serve items with correct portioning, utensils, and hospitality standards.

Compliance & Safety
- Regulatory Adherence:
- Follow HHFKA and CACFP meal patterns, recognising reimbursable meals.
- Document daily production records and food safety logs (both daily and HACCP-related).
- Record temperatures for hot/cold foods to ensure compliance.

- Participate in safety incentive programmes and weekly check-ins (“Daily Dish”).
Administrative Duties
- Financial & Operational:
- Handle customer payments, operate cash registers or POS systems (restricted to reimbursable meals).
- Complete daily paperwork: tray counts, meal reconciliations, and timecard submissions.
- Attendance & Communication:
- Submit hours in ADP or edit sheets for missing time.
- Provide 24-hour notice for shift absences; notify DNS promptly in emergencies.
- Attendance strictly adheres to Opaa!’s Timekeeping Policy.

Physical Demands
- Work Activities:
- Stand, walk, sit, kneel, and reach for long periods; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs (frequent >60 lbs force required).
- Vision tasks include depth perception, focus precision, and colour identification.
- Working Conditions:
- Occasional exposure to heat, cold, chemicals, or noise levels.
- Works inside and outside (depending on tasks).
Requirements
Education
- Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.
- Alternative: Up to one month of related experience, training, or equivalent combination.
Skills
- Language: Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating with customers/clients.
- Mathematics: Basic arithmetic (floats, decimals) and ڌrefrabination of bar graphs.
- Reasoning: Ability to follow structured instructions and problem-solve in standardised environments.
Equipment & Tools
Familiarity with: Kitchen appliances (slicers, kettles, mixers, fryers) Digital tools (counters, POS software, calculators, data entry software)
