Knitwear Programmer

We are seeking an experienced Knitwear Programmer with strong expertise in Stoll M1 Plus / Create Plus software to develop, programme, and optimise high-quality knitted garments for production.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with designers, product developers, and production teams to translate creative concepts into efficient, production-ready knit programs that meet both aesthetic and commercial requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, develop, and optimise knit programs using Stoll M1 Plus and Create Plus software.
  • Translate technical packs, design briefs, and sketches into fully engineered knitwear programs.
  • Develop complex stitch structures, shaping techniques, and advanced garment constructions.
  • Programme complete garments for Stoll flat knitting machines, including fully fashioned and seamless knit structures.
  • Lead technical development from concept through to production approval.
  • Produce and refine prototypes and sample programs, ensuring fit, quality, and manufacturability standards are met.
  • Troubleshoot complex programming and machine issues, supporting efficient and consistent production output.
  • Optimise programming to reduce yarn waste, improve machine efficiency, and enhance production timelines.
  • Collaborate closely with design teams to balance creative intent with technical feasibility and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, version control, and programming libraries.

Leadership & Development Responsibilities

  • Mentor and support junior knitwear programmers, providing technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to training and upskilling of team members in Stoll M1 Plus and Create Plus systems.
  • Support workflow management across knitwear programming projects to ensure timely delivery and resource efficiency.
  • Assist in prioritising workload and coordinating programming schedules within the development team.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance programming efficiency, consistency, and output quality.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, standardisation, and optimisation within knit programming workflows.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Extensive hands-on experience programming Stoll flat knitting machines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Stoll M1 Plus and Create Plus software.
  • Knit and Wear programming experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of knit structures, stitch engineering, garment shaping, and construction methods.
  • Proven ability to develop commercial knitwear from concept through production.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex programming and machine-related issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality output.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple development projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in fashion knitwear, garment technology & grading.
  • Experience in a programming role within a knitwear manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with luxury, premium, or high-volume commercial knitwear production.
  • Knowledge of yarn properties, fibre behaviour, and machine capabilities.
  • Experience in workflow coordination or technical team leadership.
