ROLE OVERVIEW

We are recruiting for a Knowledge Paralegal to join the Financing Group.

Our Financing Group comprises 16 partners and around 65 associates and advises on a broad range of complex and market-leading financing matters. The group encompasses a number of different practice areas including Banking, Debt Capital Markets, Securitisation and Structured Finance, Restructuring and Insolvency ("R&I"), and Derivatives.

The team advises a diverse range of clients, including major corporates, financial institutions, investment funds and other market participants, on some of the most sophisticated and high-profile financing transactions and restructurings in the market. The group operates a client-focused model, with partners and associates working closely together across a client's financing matters, providing an excellent understanding of clients' businesses and commercial objectives.

The Knowledge Paralegal will support the group's knowledge management and know-how function with a focus on R&I and Derivatives work. The Knowledge Paralegal will work closely alongside the R&I and Derivatives Knowledge Lawyers and Knowledge Advisors and will also liaise with partners, associates, trainees and members of the Business Development and Business Services teams across the Financing Group as a whole and elsewhere in the firm.

  • Monitoring legal and market developments
  • Assisting with the production of newsletters, updates and horizon scanning
  • Legal and market research
  • Collecting know-how and precedents and uploading to the firm’s know-how systems
  • Maintaining and updating know-how resources, including practice intranet sites and other knowledge repositories
  • Taking part in knowledge projects and legal-tech innovation across the group (including use of firm approved AI tools to efficiently carry out everyday tasks)
  • Organising internal training and team meetings and assisting with preparing materials
  • Supporting client-facing training and events, including the preparation of materials
  • Supporting other business development initiatives
  • Assisting with queries from fee earners and, if required, assisting with certain fee earning tasks.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Candidates for this position must have:

  • Strong academics and legal background (2:1 degree or above from a top university and completion of SQE preferred)
  • A secured training contract is essential
  • Excellent legal technical knowledge and ability to pick up new legal concepts quickly
  • Strong research skills
  • Highly competent written and spoken communication abilities
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • An ability to progress parallel priorities
  • An ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Good IT skills and an ability to learn new IT systems quickly
  • Confidence to use the firm’s approved generative AI tools and to trial new use cases
  • Self-motivation and drive to work independently and pro-actively, using sound analysis and judgement and taking responsibility for delivery
  • Ability to adapt and fit into the team, fostering an inclusive team culture
  • High level of professionalism and integrity
