Kotlin/JVM Software Junior Engineer

Junior Software Engineer – Backend

A globally known payments/digital banking company are looking for a Junior Software Engineer with a passion for backend development to join a thriving team building digital insurance products—serving hundreds of thousands of customers worldwide. You’ll leverage modern technologies, collaborate with seasoned engineers, and drive impactful solutions across financial services, travel, and insurance while growing in a dynamic environment.


Responsibilities

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Build and deliver software from concept to production
  • Develop backend services using Kotlin/JVM and Java
  • Design and integrate APIs and microservices
  • Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, engineers, and stakeholders across the business
  • Contribute to both greenfield projects and enhancements of existing platforms

What We're Looking For

We’re looking for individuals with:

  • Commercial experience or a strong academic background in Java and/or Kotlin
  • Understanding of APIs, web applications, and service-oriented architecture
  • Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering core principles
  • Experience with relational or NoSQL databases, e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis
  • Familiarity with Git and adherence to modern development practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset

Nice-to-Have (Bonus Experience)

While not mandatory, experience in the following areas will give you an edge:

  • Spring or Ktor framework
  • Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, or cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Full-stack experience, particularly with React
  • Use of AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot
