KS2 SEN Teacher: Near Cambridge

Location: Near Cambridge (South Cambridgeshire)

Contract Type: Part-Time, Long-Term Assignment

Are you an experienced, nurturing Primary or SEN Teacher looking to balance your passion for teaching with your personal commitments? We are seeking a dedicated Key Stage 2 SEN Teacher for a rewarding part-time, long-term opportunity at a specialized school located near Cambridge.

This role offers the perfect balance: the professional fulfilment of guiding a wonderful class of KS2 pupils with complex learning needs, combined with the lifestyle benefits of a part-time schedule. Running on a long-term basis, this placement offers excellent continuity and the chance to become an integral part of a collaborative, highly supportive specialist team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tailored Lesson Delivery: Deliver highly creative, sensory-friendly, and accessible lessons aligned with the KS2 curriculum, adapted to suit various cognitive and physical abilities.
  • Support Individual Progress: Work closely with individual Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) to ensure every child's academic, social, and emotional targets are actively supported.
  • Lead Classroom Support Staff: Guide and collaborate with a dedicated team of SEN Teaching Assistants within your classroom to maintain a safe, positive, and productive learning environment.
  • Track Development: Monitor and record individual milestones, celebrate achievements, and ensure consistent developmental support during your days on site.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential.
  • Proven experience teaching pupils with special educational needs (such as Autism, ADHD, Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties, or SLCN).
  • Excellent understanding of early child development, sensory integration, and positive behaviour management strategies.
  • A collaborative, positive mindset with the ability to work seamlessly alongside speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and parents.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or willingness to complete one immediately).
