Kubernetes System Administrator
QContact is a cloud contact centre platform helping organisations deliver exceptional customer experiences through voice, digital channels, workforce management, AI, and automation. As our platform continues to grow, we're looking for a skilled Kubernetes System Administrator to help build, maintain, and scale the infrastructure that powers our services.
About the Role
As a Kubernetes System Administrator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, reliability, security, and performance of our Kubernetes environments. You will work closely with software engineers and support teams to ensure our services remain highly available, secure, and scalable.
Key Notes
- Hands-on technical role – You must fully understand Kubernetes (e.g., deployments, ingresses, services, scaling) and have strong Linux administration skills.
- Technical assessment in the hiring process – Only apply if confident in both Kubernetes and Linux administration.
- You’ll manage production-grade clusters, troubleshoot complex issues, automate operations, and improve observability and resilience.
Effective core skills include:
- Kubernetes architecture, networking, storage, workload management
- Security, troubleshooting
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles

Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Kubernetes clusters in production environments.
- Monitor cluster health, performance, and capacity.
- Manage deployments, upgrades, and lifecycle maintenance.
- Configure and maintain networking, ingress, DNS, and service discovery.
- Manage persistent storage and backup strategies.
- Implement and maintain RBAC, security policies, and cluster hardening.
- Automate operational processes using Infrastructure as Code.
- Troubleshoot application, cluster, networking, and node-level issues.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and containerised deployments.
- Collaborate with development teams to enhance reliability, scalability, and observability.
- Participate in incident response and on-call rotations.
Required Skills
- 3+ years administering Linux-based systems.
- 2+ years hands-on experience managing Kubernetes in production (expect a deep dive in technical assessment).
- Experience with container technologies like Docker.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (we use Datadog; other tools include: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, OpenTelemetry).
- Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar).
- Must reside in the UK for a permanent PAYE role.
- Right to work in the UK without sponsorship required.
- Good level of English — must be fluent for collaboration.

Desirable Skills
- Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Helm knowledge/helper.
- Databases: PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch.
- Expertise with Terraform or similar IaC tools.
- Experience with service meshes and cloud-native networking.
- Supporting high-availability SaaS platforms.
What We Offer
- Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 (depending on experience).
- Annual leave: 25 days plus bank holidays.
