Provide 1:1 and group inductions, work alongside the gyms PTs to get excellent experience and knowledge from other members of the team and general exercise programmes, including introduction to new equipment and renewing memberships, where appropriate. Learning on the job!

Requirements

  • No work experience is required however you must have a keen interest for working within the fitness industry and learn from your mentors.
  • The ability to be confident to teach group sessions
  • The ability to work unaided when training permits
  • Willingness to complete a Level 3 Personal Trainer Apprenticeship
  • Communication to speak to members and build a clientele of new membership
  • GCSE in English (grade 4 or above) (Desirable)
  • GCSE in Math (grade 4 or above) (Desirable)
  • Genuine interest in the health & fitness industry.

Responsibilities

  • All general duties of a gym instructor will be covered
  • Working alongside the gyms PTs to get excellent experience and knowledge from other members of the team
  • Opening up the gym following the opening up procedure
  • Keeping vending machine stocked
  • Welcoming members into the gym
  • Ensuring all areas of the gym are tidy at all times
  • Filling up centre feed rolls and spray bottles throughout the gym as required
  • Emptying bins as required
  • Advising members on correct technique in the gym on an ad hoc basis
  • Providing programming / training advice to members - writing programs if necessary
  • Showing new members how to work cardio and weights equipment - writing programs as necessary
  • Cleaning of gym equipment
  • Vacuuming / mopping floors / cleaning areas in the gym as required
  • Maintenance checks of gym equipment
  • Changing room checks on a regular basis
  • Involvement in studio classes - will begin by shadowing our class instructors before being considered for own class
  • Ensuring members follow our club rules
  • Potential for the right candidate to take on personal training clients
  • Signing up new members
  • Floor walking the gym - chatting to members
  • Closing down the gym following closing down procedure

Benefits

  • Wage: £12,480 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age (National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices)
  • Training course: Personal trainer (level 3)
  • Hours: 30 hours per week over 5 days. (shifts will change each week, can include evenings, weekends and mornings.) Shifts to be confirmed.
  • Progression to a permanent position for the right candidate to build their own personal PT client list
  • This qualification will enable you to go on to further health & fitness qualifications
