Laboratory Administrator - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Laboratory Administrator – Sample Reception Team

We are excited to offer two temporary, 12-month roles within our dynamic Sample Reception team at Axiom Veterinary Laboratory (part of the CVS Group)—a fast-paced diagnostic pathology facility. We’re seeking efficient, detailed-oriented amministrators to manage sample submissions, ensuring swift and accurate testing for our growing client base of veterinary practices across the UK and beyond.

Our mission is to streamline veterinary diagnostics—where you’ll play a vital role in ensuring samples are processed quickly, records maintained meticulously, and client communication handled with professionalism.


Key Responsibilities

  • Sample受理与管理

    • Open, verify, and record details of new submissions while comparison with submission forms.
    • Accurately transfer data onto the lab information system (LIMS).
    • Artificial numbering, racking, and preparations samples for onward laboratory processing.
  • 供应链与日常行政

    • Coordinate the receipt of external deliveries and distribute supplies/logistics to the correct teams or departments.
    • Organize outgoing shipments, including client results and external laboratory exchanges.

  • 客户服务与沟通

    • Handle customer inquiries by telephone (internal & external contacts) in a polite, professional manner.
    • Send outbound calls, including follow-ups of results or client queries.
    • Process emails, both internal and external correspondence.
    • Coordinate with referral laboratories for inbound/outbound result transfers.
  • 质量与反馈管理

    • Support our Quality System by conducting data entry audits and recording client feedback.

About the Role

  • Hours: 30 hours/week – Days: Tues–Fri 06:00–12:00, Sat 05:00–11:00
  • Salary: Aligned with National Minimum Wage (FL or NLW, as applicable).
  • Contract Type: Temporary (12-month fixed-term contract)

No prior lab experience is required—comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided across all procedures and systems required.

Essential Qualities & Skills

  • Speed & precision in data entry; excellent attention to detail.
  • Exposure to common office software (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Outstanding communicative skills and customer-focused approach.
  • Client-facing confidence in telephone-based interactions.
  • High professionalism, teamwork, and the ability to work autonomously under clear procedures.
  • Initiative-driven with excellent prioritisation whenever workload changes arise.
