Responsibilities
- Conduct microbiological testing of food and materials, including sample preparation, plating, and interpretation, while maintaining aseptic techniques.
- Uphold laboratory hygiene standards through daily cleaning, personal cleanliness, and proper waste disposal.
- Monitor and record equipment performance, conducting scheduled checks and reporting any malfunctions or deviations.
- Use our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to log and analyse test results, flagging out-of-specification results for management review.
- Mentor new team members by supervising procedures and fostering a collaborative, customer-focused work culture.
- Work within a regulated, high-standard laboratory environment, ensuring compliance with quality and safety protocols.
Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for a detail-oriented, team player with:
- A-levels in science subjects or 5 GCSEs (grade C or above), with preference given to microbiology experience.
- Prior laboratory experience, particularly in microbiology.
- Strong analytical and observational skills to ensure accuracy.
- Working knowledge of laboratory equipment and protocols.
- A full UK driving licence (for testing-related travel).
- Proven collaboration skills, effective communication, and a problem-solving mindset.
