Exciting Opportunity in Research Laboratories at Addenbrookes Hospital
We have an exciting opportunity to join our busy department in a key role which underpins activities in our research laboratories based in Addenbrookes Hospital. The successful candidate will support the Laboratory & Facilities Coordinator in the oversight and management of physical infrastructure, facilities and high-quality support services on behalf of the Department of Medicine, in order to support the efficient and effective operation of its research activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake the day-to-day supervision of two staff members in the facilities team.
- Take a lead role in facilities management, ensuring compliance with operational safety of equipment and keeping people informed of facilities matters.
- Monitor stocks of compressed gases, liquid nitrogen, dry ice.
- Oversee the running of the Cell Bank.
- Oversee glass washing and waste stream disposal (clinical, WEEE, chemical etc).
- Assist in project managing refurbishments, new works and repairs with the hospital trust.
- Ensure servicing and validation of equipment by external engineers is performed in a timely manner, in conjunction with health and safety compliance regulations.

Requirements
- Significant hands-on experience in facilities support and/or significant experience in a laboratory or hospital setting.
- Skilled communicator with the ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to remain adaptable and calm in situations where priorities can change at short notice.
- Good level of physical fitness due to some manual handling.
On-call Duties
- Required to hold on-call duties (compensated) on a rotational basis.
- Must be able to report to the site within 30 minutes for out-of-hours emergencies.
