Laboratory Manager – Concrete Laboratories
Location: Rochester, Kent Employer: Master Builders Solutions
Build your career with Master Builders Solutions and be part of a dynamic journey! We’re seeking a driven and ambitious Laboratory Manager to play a key role in analysing, developing, and promoting construction chemical technologies in our concrete laboratory.
About the Role
Master Builders Solutions, a leader in construction chemicals, is looking for a Laboratory Manager to oversee the concrete laboratory operations based in Kent. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support the analysis, development, and promotion of innovative construction solutions while leading a small team.
Ideal candidates will be passionate about construction materials, proactive in problem-solving, and committed to maintaining the highest standards in both work and safety.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct precise analysis of concrete and mortar using advanced techniques in:
- Our Rochester laboratory
- Customer production facilities
- On-site construction locations (Support Sales Team and regional market unit with findings.)

Oversee the laboratory team (3 members), including planning, workload prioritisation, and aligning tasks with our technical support strategy.

Collaborate closely with customers and sales teams, providing expert advice on product selection and performance to ensure satisfaction.

Identify customer expectations while adhering to statutory legislation, industry standards, and internal policies.

Ensure all analyses are completed punctually, contributing to the development and promotion of new construction technologies for internal and external stakeholders.

Manage innovative lab processes to ensure all projects and trials are completed to company standards.

Drive the company’s commitment to sustainability and cutting-edge technology in concrete construction.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a concrete testing laboratory or within the construction sector.
- Managerial experience is highly desirable.
- Degree in a science, maths-, or engineering-related field (advantageous but not mandatory if substantial hands-on experience exists).
- In-depth knowledge of concrete and construction materials.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous learning.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and adherence to Health & Safety regulations.
- Proficiency in MS Office and the ability to analyse and interpret laboratory data.
- Ability to work effectively in teams while taking ownership of individual responsibilities.
Must-Have Additional Qualifications
