Laboratory Manager
As Laboratory Manager, you'll be involved with the planning, coordination and control of all laboratory services within Harrietsham. You'll make sure services are provided efficiently and where required to the clients’ time frame to a level of quality.
Skills
You will need to have:
- Planning and organization skills to be able run and monitor all laboratory services;
- The ability to act decisively and solve staff or equipment-related problems;
- ICT literacy to deal with various technologies and programmes;
- Attention to detail to ensure high levels of quality;
- The ability to communicate clearly and persuasively with your team and clients;
- The ability to work under pressure and motivate others to meet tight deadlines;
- The ability to work in a logical, systematic manner.
Responsibilities
You will need to:
- Oversee all laboratory services and testing schedules;
- Ensure that the production is cost effective;
- Decide what resources are required;
- Draft timescales for the contracts;
- Estimate costs and set the quality standards;
- Monitor the testing processes and adjust schedules as needed;
- Be responsible for the selection and maintenance of equipment;
- Monitor product standards and implement quality-control programmes;
- Liaise among different departments, e.g. suppliers, managers;
- Work with managers and directors to implement the company's policies and goals;
- Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed;
- Supervise and motivate a team of workers;
- Review worker performance;
- Identify training needs.

Performance Measures:
- Timely completion of test schedules;
- Test output levels and team productivity rates;
- Accuracy of administration and attention to detail;
- Control of overtime appropriate to workload;
- Health & Safety adherence;
- Quality control procedure adherence.
Knowledge & Experience
- 10 Experience of working in a relevant environment of the role
- Understands demands of 17025 accredited laboratory.
- Technical Understanding of their role
