Laboratory Scientist Role

Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Eye, Suffolk.

Work Schedule

  • Monday - Friday – 37.5hrs

Job Responsibilities

  • Physico-Chemical (physical and chemical) properties testing, shelf-life stability testing, and instrumental analysis
  • Recording actions and observations in accordance with GLP (good laboratory practice) with data processing and interpretation
  • Perform CIPAC test methods (Collaborative International Pesticides Analytical Council)
  • Review work of others for overall accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and soundness of technical judgment and have the ability to assist in developing a training plan for less experienced laboratory personnel
  • Sets up and performs a variety of assays using appropriate instrumentation with routine and non-routine methods plus performs QC checks as required
  • Maintains study documentation in compliance with regulatory guidelines and reviews own work for overall accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and soundness of technical judgment
  • Ability to prepare results and presentations based on the work performed
  • Participate in method development and validation projects
  • Motivates self and others to assure timely delivery of client expectations and influences others to see things from a client’s perspective
  • Awareness of latest technologies and regulatory thinking with respect to specific scientific discipline. Advises Study Directors and management where modifications to working practices are necessary
  • Uses experience to apply creative problem solving to challenging issues.
  • Anticipates, detects, and promotes quality and process improvement needs in own and other areas and actively promotes collaboration between groups
  • Provides team leaders and members with regular supportive feedback
  • Establishes clear plans to meet short- and medium-term requirements for projects
  • Anticipates issues/obstacles which may prevent meeting project/department objectives and identifies solutions to overcome difficulties
  • Ability to recognize deviations from normal results and inform Study Director, Study Coordinator, and/or management of any problems that may affect integrity of the data

Minimum Qualifications

  • A level in Chemistry, Applied Science, Physics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemistry

Additional Job Standards

  • Worked in Physical Chemical testing with laboratory equipment or experienced in bench chemistry with laboratory equipment
  • Has trained team members
  • Proficiency with I.T and computer software packages such as Excel and good numeracy
  • Experience of HPLC, GC, and UV detection techniques
  • Knowledge of GLP (good laboratory practice) and CIPAC standards
