Location & Role
Location: National Laboratory, Chipping Sodbury Contract: Full-time Department: Laboratory / Technical Services
We are looking for a passionate Laboratory Technician to join our dedicated technical team. In this hands-on role, you’ll play a crucial part in ensuring our asphalt, aggregates, and concrete materials meet industry standards—delivering high performance for our customers.
Purpose of the Role
To examine and test asphalt, aggregates, concrete, and associated construction materials strictly in accordance with European standards and UKAS regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety
- Comply with all company Health & Safety policies and relevant legislation
- Follow Safe Working Procedures as issued and updated
- Promote and contribute to a positive health and safety culture in the lab
Quality Control
- Conduct laboratory testing under approved procedures and local work instructions
- Suspend testing immediately and report deviations or issues to the Senior Laboratory Technician
- Support continuous improvement in test accuracy, process efficiency, and service quality

- Deliver accurate results within agreed business timescales
- Maintain a well-organised and productive working environment
Customer Service
- Build excellent relationships with internal and external customers
- Assist the Senior Laboratory Technician with resolving queries promptly and professionally
What We’re Looking For
✅ A proactive, safety-conscious mindset ✅ Strong attention to detail and accuracy ✅ Ability to follow structured procedures and quality standards rigorously ✅ Good communication and teamwork skills ✅ Preferred but not essential: Previous experience in a laboratory or construction materials testing environment (full training provided)
