This is a key role within a busy and well-resourced team, supporting the delivery of high-quality practical science education across all key stages. Working closely with teaching staff, you will prepare and oversee practical work in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, ensuring the safe and efficient running of experiments and demonstrations. You will help facilitate innovative and engaging science lessons, contribute ideas for new practical activities and ensure that the departmental inventory is well-stocked and equipment is well-maintained.
You should ideally have experience working in a laboratory environment and have studied science to at least A Level. Strong organisational and good IT skills are also essential. This position would suit an experienced science technician seeking progression into a more senior role, or a recent science graduate with substantial laboratory experience looking to begin a career in education.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
