About the Role
Location: PO12 2DL, Alverstoke (near Lee-on-Solent, Gosport) with free onsite parking. Salary: £24,160 - £34,400, depending on suitability, qualifications, and experience.

AWE is recruiting for a Laboratory Technician within the Defence Radiation Protection Services (DRPS) at AWE Alverstoke. DRPS provides technical and advisory services on ionising and non-ionising radiation protection for the Ministry of Defence and commercial clients.
As a Laboratory Technician within the DRPS Approved Dosimetry Service, you’ll:
- Issue and assess personal radiation dosemeters to agreed timescales.
- Maintain personal dosimetry records within required deadlines.
- Respond promptly and accurately to customer requests, ensuring **excellent customer service`.
- Work in a laboratory-based environment, with some office tasks.
- Provide short-notice support to the DRPS Radiological and Nuclear Emergency Response Organisation, if needed.

Who Are We Looking For?
- A self-motivated, enthusiastic individual to join the Approved Dosimetry Service team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage with colleagues and customers.
- Exceptional attention to detail for accurate record-keeping.
- Enthusiasm for learning on the job and skill development.
- Commitment to delivering practical and scientific work to high safety and quality standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. (No prior laboratory experience needed—full training provided.)
- Interest in continuous professional development and growth.
