Laboratory Technician - Prescot
We are looking for 2 motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technicians to join our busy laboratory team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with laboratory experience, or those looking to develop their career within a professional analytical environment. Working with a range of precious and base metal samples, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate, high-quality analytical services while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety and efficiency. Full training will be provided for the successful candidates.
Role
- Location: Prescot
- Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (06:00 - 14:00 and 13:30 - 21:30)
- Contract: Full Time & Permanent
- Hours: 37.5
- Closing Date: Monday 27th July 2026
The Day to Day
- Preparing and weighing samples of various commodities in line with analytical method requirements.
- Working with precious metals and base metals samples.
- Carrying out routine laboratory tasks accurately while adhering to quality assurance guidelines.
- Performing basic instrument operation and routine maintenance.
- Using standard laboratory equipment, including analytical balances, for sample preparation and weighing.
- Organising and planning daily workloads to meet operational requirements.
- Promoting and maintaining high standards of Health & Safety within the laboratory.
- Storing samples in accordance with laboratory procedures.
- Recording laboratory data accurately using LIMS and other IT systems.
- Disposing of used solutions safely and appropriately.
- Adhering to company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Maintaining company quality standards, including ISO 9001 and UKAS ISO/IEC 17025.

The Essentials
- Previous experience working in a laboratory environment.
- Basic knowledge of glassware care and COSHH regulations.
- Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to remain focused and work accurately in a busy laboratory environment.
- Experience working within a team-focused, results-driven environment.
- A degree, or current studies, in a relevant scientific discipline is desirable but not essential.
- Experience with instrumentation including XRF, ICP, auto fusion, auto titration and fire assay is desirable but not essential.
- Wet chemistry laboratory experience is desirable.
- Flexibility to work overtime during busy periods when required.
